It's been over a decade since I've painted, but I still practice what I like to call "Invisionary Paradoria". It's a method of drawing and painting from my imagination. The artwork is usually fantastical but not overly frightening. As you stare for a while, you'll spot more faces. You can even mix and match the features to create eyes that look in different directions.
Each painting is 24" by 24" on canvas, made with graphite, acrylic and oil mediums.
I recently retired but keep busy with odd jobs such as painting and carpentry. My art career began while studying at BYU, where I majored in art and got my teaching certificate. Some of you might remember the Frosty Stand in McGill—owned and run by my grandparents for years.
I returned to McGill, where I have been living with my wife Peggy for over 40 years and saw a potential in the Old Victory Club before it was due for demolition. After buying it, the intensive renovation began—it was in terrible condition and needed major work to make it usable again. McGill is still my home.
