Susan G. McIntosh was raised in McGill, NV; attended the University of Utah, and worked at the University Hospital in the billing office, OB/GYN, Medical Records, and orthopedics. In 1981, I left the University to set up and manage the private practice of an Orthopedic surgeon. In 1984, I managed an OB/GYN practice. Seeking better pay and hours, I began working for a large insurance brokerage firm from 1987 through 1990. I met a cowboy (that didn’t last) and moved to Reno in 1990, and worked for another firm. They relocated to Las Vegas, leaving me to work for a couple of small agencies. I obtained the designation of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) in 1992, and Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) in 1994. I opened my own business in 1996, specializing in Employee Benefits. I met Steve Jones in 2010, and in 2011, we were married in Virginia City. Steve is a geologist and enjoys looking for gold and gardening. I can the hundreds of tomatoes, cucumbers, and beets we harvest. Steve started with a green house, then added a garden box, then converted the horseshoe pit to five more garden boxes, and finally three more plus a straw bale. We walk our dog, Roscoe, most mornings, enjoy BBQ’s and walks at Galena Creek, and travel. My Dad passed away in 2008 leaving me his harmonicas (ironically, I could not play until after he was gone). While Steve does not enjoy our hootenannies, he loves to BBQ and have friends and family over. I retired in January of 2020.
